Whats all the fuss about Reusable Breast Pads?

What are Reusable Breast Pads?

One thing that often isn’t talked about enough is just how much your body can leak during pregnancy and after birth — and we’re not just talking about in the early days of breastfeeding! Even if you’re planning to bottle-feed or mix-feed, your body still produces milk, and leakage can happen at any time, day or night.

That’s where breast pads come in! These absorbent pads sit comfortably between your bra and your skin, soaking up any unexpected leaks and helping you avoid wet patches on your clothes. They’re a must-have in every postpartum care kit — because let’s be real, you’ve got enough to think about without worrying about changing your top three times a day. 😅

Why Reusable Breast Pads?

It’s easy to reach for disposable breast pads at the start — they’re everywhere and they seem super convenient. But what you might not realise is just how many you go through, especially if you’re leaking heavily. That cost adds up fast, and it creates a lot of unnecessary waste too.

Reusable breast pads are a total game-changer. Not only are they more cost-effective in the long run, but they’re also so much better for the planet. You just wash and reuse them — no trips to the store for more, no extra rubbish piling up, and no ongoing cost. It’s a small change that makes a big difference.

And honestly? Once you’ve tried the soft lining of our reusable pads, you might never want to go back. 😍

How many do I need?

This is one of the most common questions we get! As a general rule, we recommend starting with at least 5 pairs — that’s 10 individual pads. This gives you enough to use 1–2 pairs a day, with some in the wash and some ready to go.

Of course, everyone’s body is different. Some people find one pair lasts them the whole day, while others prefer to change them more frequently, especially overnight. If you’re a heavy leaker (or just like having fresh ones on hand), you might want a few extra pairs to rotate through.

I could wear one pair during the day and then sometimes swap to a fresh pair for overnight, but otherwise sometimes the same pair for 24 hours.

How do I wash them?

Washing your reusable breast pads is super easy. Just pop them in the machine with your regular washing — baby clothes, reusable nappies, or delicates all work well. A gentle cycle is best to keep them in great condition, and we recommend avoiding fabric softener, as it can affect absorbency over time.

What makes ours special?

They're larger than standard breast pads, which means they're more absorbent and cover a larger surface area.  They come in a range of patterns, plus we have a bundle deal.

Fun fact:

Once your breastfeeding journey comes to an end, don’t tuck those breast pads away forever. They make fantastic reusable makeup removers too! Just add a little micellar water or cleanser and wipe away — soft on your skin, kind to the environment, and no more disposable cotton pads.
