I get it. Solids with a little one can be hard work. Not only are you buying and prepping food, you’re then struggling to get them to eat it. Or you’re dodging plates and bowls that go flying.

About 2 years ago, I decided I wanted to create our own tableware range.  I knew it had to be functional, but I heard all the issues our customers were facing. Suction not being strong enough, silicone holding odours and tastes, plastic not being the material of choice, and stainless steel not being microwave safe. 

I’m a Mum of 3, what we’re after is something easy to use, easy to clean, and that kids like.  

So we’ve brought you Ceramic & Silicone Tableware, the best of both worlds.  

Yup, I know… ceramic. I’m going to guess you’re either worried about it breaking, or just not even sure what it is. Let me break it down for you.

Ceramic is what we generally use for adults plates & bowls. It’s non-porous which means it doesn’t hold smells and tastes from the last meal. It’s also dishwasher & microwave safe (huge win!). The ceramic in our tableware is also beautifully thick, meaning it’s not dainty and fragile.

But, it’s still prone to damage if it’s dropped from a height. So, it’s combined with a silicone outer to make it toddler friendly!

The silicone outer is removable, which makes washing a breeze. It has a lip over the top to cover the ceramic to keep it safe. Plus, it has a super strong suction base to keep the bowls and plates from flying.

So how did we get from idea to concept?

Firstly - samples. We got a round of samples from a manufacturer in China and I was absolutely blown away. They got it right on the first try and I was impressed.  

So, we hopped on a plane to China and went to visit the team. I wanted to ensure the quality was top-notch, and make sure it was something I’d be proud to bring into your homes. We talked through how the process works, options for expanding the range in future, and got our order underway.  Meeting the team behind it sealed the deal. They were the loveliest people (and you know we love dealing with lovely people!).

Let’s talk features:

The Suction Base: This is seriously strong. It’s passed many a ‘pull’ test to ensure it’s going to stay put!

The Toddler-Proof Silicone Shield: We wrapped that beautiful ceramic in a protective silicone sleeve. It cushions the ceramic from accidental bumps.  

The Removable Outer: Once your little one outgrows the 'let’s throw things to see what sound they make' phase, you can pop the silicone base off. Boom. It’s a gorgeous, grown-up looking bowl. Kids will love feeling like one of the adults.  

The Ceramic Material: We love silicone, but after a while it starts smelling like dish soap and is still covered in pasta sauce.  Ceramic doesn't absorb smells, doesn't stain, and actually has some weight to it. Food tastes like food, not cleaning products.  

Microwave & Dishwasher Safe: I don’t think I’ve ever paid attention to a ‘hand wash only’ label in my life. You’re going in the dishwasher like it’s survival of the fittest.  The good news here is that our tableware is all dishwasher safe. Need to reheat leftovers again? Throw it in the microwave and you’re good to go!
